Example Practice Plans, Forms, Evaluations and Goal Setting
Setting Goals and practicing with a purpose are keys to the GRIP Program. Golf lessons are important, but setting goals helps but substance to those lessons.
Setting Goals
In GRIP we set monthly, 6-month, and 1-year goals for players. Most junior golfers have goals such as, "I want to win every tournament!" This type of goal is not realistic and not beneficial. If we set small, achievable goals we will build confidence! Confidence is the key to success.
In setting goals, a golfer must understand what a goal might be. Wanting to play professional golf is a great long-term goal, but maybe a short-term goal would be playing a round without any 3-putts!
Practice Plans
Practice Plans and Goal Setting go hand in hand. If a player wants to shoot under par in 3-months, they will need an aggressive practice plan to help achieve their goals. Whatever the goal, we have have a path to achieve it.
Most kids practice the same way everytime they go to the range. The key to practice is PRACTICING WITH PURPOSE. In GRIP, we focus on making sure that your practice has an END. What do I mean by that? Instead of putting for 30-minutes, why not putt until you achieve something?
Example:
You're goal today is to make 15, 5-footers in a row. When you do that, YOU ARE DONE PUTTING!
